First day off in a bit so I'm keeping this brief. Here's this mornings sketch of the day. We carved our first Jack-o-lantern as home owners last night so I'm feeling in the Halloween mood again.
Think for a minute about what it takes to enter politics. I'll concede that there may in fact be a noble desire to serve (however short lived). But to succeed in politics there is a short list of personality traits that are essential:
The belief that your views are correct and all others are incorrect
The desire to control the lives of others
The belief that others need to be controlled
The belief that you are entitled to control the lives of others
It also helps to have a flexible set of morals
You might think I have a jaded view of politicians based on the list. Yep. Government is a business and businesses care about the bottom line. If you don't think government is really big business just take a look at your pay check.
I served this great nation for over a decade as a soldier. I know what leadership is.. I would like to see this nation grow and prosper. Many of the people running the nation unfortunately have other interests closest to their hearts. Please notice that I did not mention any political parties. In my eyes they are all pretty much the same. We need to stop looking at our "leaders" past and present as anything but people in charge of other people. Just like the general populace, government is made up of evangelists and atheists, philanthropists and philanderers, the devout and the devious.
I make an honest living. I love me wife and kids. I love my dog. I open doors. I say hello to strangers. I try to teach what i know to anyone that asks. I try to learn what i can from everyone around me. That makes me an American hero. You just might be a hero too.
That's it. I'm done talking politics. I'm officially unplugging myself from all of the negative wing nuts. If you meet me in the real world, I really don't want to know your politics. Let's talk about the authentic you. If the politics went away what would be left? People.
